How everyday life relates to my art adventure
Ever since I started my journey with art in class 5, painting and sketching have meant more to me than just filling spaces with vibrant oil pastels and marker-based pens (sketch pens). When it came to inter-school competitions, teachers knew exactly whose name to include for the event. While others played football or cricket, I found solace among the array of hues and sheets of paper, which felt like a bright sunlight shining on one’s face.
The subjects I drew often revolved around machines, mostly aircraft, which became increasingly detailed as I grew older. For some reason, the focus of my drawings shifted from the tail and livery to the landing gears! Drawing those tires was always a fun challenge… haha
My connection with brushes and mediums deepened as I experimented with new ones like acrylics and oils. Not only did I expand my range of mediums, but new subjects also found their way onto my canvas. Architecture, landscapes, flora, fauna, and people further fueled my passion for art, which, for me, is more about personal satisfaction than commercial success. Recently, I painted an earthen pot with a plant, and it turned out surprisingly well. I didn’t expect it to bring so much color into someone else’s life so soon!
For some, art is a livelihood, while for others, it’s a hobby. But both states share one thing: enthusiasm. Whether you’re using panels, canvas, or sheets of paper, all you need is consistency and an undeniable passion.
Keep painting — it’s your style, it’s all about you.
